Search Engine Marketing SEM Advice Search Engine Ranking Advice

Search Engine Marketing SEM Advice / Search Engine Ranking Advice

Search engine marketing SEM is the ability to get your site ranking well in the search engines, notably for most, Google. Search engine marketing is therefore closely tied to the term, search engine optimisation SEO.

If you own a website and most of us these days do own either a website or a blog, you obviously want it to rank well in the search engines so that you can receive the most number of website visitors possible, in other words, engine optimisation is to most of us of the utmost importance, for getting that Google first page position results in increased amounts of natural visitors to our website or blog, which in turn will give us increased profits.

So, using search engine marketing SEM - how can we further improve our search engine position or search engine ranking? What search engine optimisation SEO tips and advice are on offer?

Let’s examine a search engine first. Picking a keyword or long tailed keyword from thin air, let’s choose this very subject, Search Engine Marketing. In this instance, Search Engine Marketing is the search term that we want to rank better for and ideally, we want to get this blog post onto the first page of Google for this long tailed keyword (Search Engine Marketing). Of course, the search engine advice here offered, this applies to any keyword / long tailed keyword that you would like to be ranking a lot better for. Your search engine position really does matter.

Search Engine Marketing, this received as a long tailed keyword in excess of 60,000 searches last month (March 2009), on average it receives over 300,000 searches per month, so if I could get this blog post to rank high, preferably getting it on to Google page one, then there is the potential, I could be getting a half decent slice of that search engine traffic, when people go to Google and type in the search box, Search Engine Marketing in search of advice upon this very subject. They hit the enter key and up pop the results for Search Engine Marketing on the first page of the Google search engine.

Now, the question is, why has Google picked these top ten web sites and placed them in positions 1-10 over and above all of the other results on page 2 to ranking infinity? Most people only ever look for the information that they are looking for from the first page results, the top ten results - they do not for the most part go to page 2 and beyond, hence why it is so important to try and get your website to rank highly on Google page one, for that is where most of the search engine traffic will come from, if you can get on that Google first page position. If you can get Google One position, even better, for most people will first click on the top result followed by the websites below the Google ranked first website.

Let’s get back to that question above now. Why has Google picked these top ten websites specifically? Obviously, these websites on that first page all contain highly pertinent information related to nothing but search engine marketing. The reason why other positioned sites are on page 2 and beyond is likely because their website ranking is polluted by all manner of other subject matters, completely unrelated to search engine marketing, so Google and the other major search engines are using an algorithm to determine which sites are making up the most relevant content, related to the keyword or search term being used.

It is possible though to do a little research to find out why these other websites are all ranking well on the Google first page and this involves looking for themed keywords directly related to the subject matter, in this case, Search Engine Marketing.

Look at Google like a big gurgling baby. The Google baby will reward you with big smiles when you spoon feed to Google tasty themed keyword morsels. If you give the Google baby on the other hand, not very tasty themed keywords directly related to the subject matter, the Google baby will very soon burp and fart in displeasure and rank you accordingly by placing your website ranking, further down the page of search results. Naturally, we want to spoon feed to the Google baby the tastiest themed keywords possible. If we can keep Google happy, the less Google will burp and fart it’s displeasure with us or our web sites.

So, Google loves those top ten Google results over and above all of the other Google results and I want to displace one of those Google top ten results on the Google first page and replace that web site position with my own, hey, it’s a hard world out there! If I don’t do this, someone else will and I would much prefer to pip that person to the post!

The question is then, how can I find out what are the themed keywords related to Search Engine Marketing from these top ten results? I can either go to the first website and look through every page on that website and make notes on every word or keyword related to Search Engine Marketing, rinse and repeat for the other 9 web sites also, but this could takes days and would be an extraordinarily laborious and time consuming activity to embark upon. Or, I could use a tool to help me. Personally, I choose the latter option, since this speeds up the process considerably.

As I write this in Word Pad, I have immediately below, a long keyword list. I’ve used a tool which has analyzed every single web page of all the top ten results on Google, for the first 1500 words, to find out what are the most related themed keywords directly attached to Search Engine Marketing.

This keyword list has given me some very useful data about those potential competitors. First I have a range of 4 themed related keywords followed by a list of 3 related themed keywords, followed by another list of 2 keyword related themed words and at the end, the list of single themed keywords.

Alongside each themed keyword / long tailed keyword I have a number displayed, this is telling me the total number of times that any particular keyword has been used.

I’ve then whittled this list down taking out all of the unrelated keywords which have nothing to do with Search Engine Marketing, so that I’m left with a choice number of only very highly pertinent themed keywords which Google ranks these sites highest for. I purposefully chose to receive only the results from the top 10 Google positions, although if I wanted to, I could have decided to adjust this higher or lower as the case may be, but it’s the top ten google rankings that I’m most interested in for the purpose of this exercise. Similarly, I could have chosen more or less than the first 1500 words from each web page on each of the top 10 web sites.

Here is a small selection of those themed keywords that Google is ranking highest: search engine optimization (seo), 6 - search engine academy, 5 - search engine marketing, 44 - search engine optimization, 31 - engine optimization (seo), (8)  etc … (There are many more)

Perhaps, to date in this article I could have used a few of these a lot more than I have already, however, I’m trying to explain this concept as simply as possible, without overdoing it on the sentence structure used.

It helps if your website has a section on it, for articles. If you have a standalone static website, this practice might be a little more difficult to implement, especially if you are chasing further keywords over and above the standard keywords that you are targeting. In this instance, if this applies to you, I would suggest that you start up a blog to complement your main website, and upon this blog, you can write articles targeting specifically further keywords otherwise not in use by you already. You decide then what you’ll be writing about, you follow this by doing some keyword research to find out how often a keyword is being searched for per month. You then find out the keyword competition, that is, how many other websites are going after that keyword.

You then use a keyword results analyzer tool, to find out what are the themed keywords relating to the keyword that you are after, from all the web pages of the top 10 Google positions and start compiling them into a themed keyword list. You then start writing your article using these very highly related themed keywords. If you do it properly, remember that illustration above about the Google baby and spoon feeding the Google baby, with only the tastiest keyword morsels possible? Well, do it properly and there is no reason why your article, when it is published on your site, shouldn’t wake up the Google baby pretty quickly, as it recognizes some wonderfully tasty, themed keyword morsels. If Google likes what it see’s the search engine will rank you exceptionally fast for that content, recognising it as directly relevant to the original search expression, keyword string / keyword search used.

Let’s progress then and by way of example, see if we can incorporate some of these themed keywords into this Search Engine Marketing article. An article within an article if you like. There may not be much worth in it for anyone to read anymore of this particular blog post, all of the most pertinent information is given above, albeit, I didn’t provide a link to the very accurate tool that I use for the keyword research.

If you want to know what this keyword ranking, search engine positioning tool is, feel free to drop me an email at: iSpyWithMy.com@gmail.com and I’ll be delighted to send to you that link where you can buy this for yourself, to help your own search engine ranking / search engine position.

From now on, I am writing purely to use as many of the related themed keywords as possible, that i can reasonably get away with …

Search Engine Marketing
, a chore for many, time consuming and perhaps for many, is difficult to accomplish. If you want better search engine rankings, for example if you are a small business, you obviously want to rank highly within search engines in order to garner the most profit for your online business. So, how can you utilise your search engine optimisation SEO, without constantly resorting to per click advertising or PPC? Maybe you’ve tried social media marketing or link building, another time consuming search engine practice in order to rank highly on the search engines, or you’ve attended an online search academy / marketing academy or visited a local search engine seminar, sometimes it may feel as though you’ve been going around and around in circles, trying everything possible but not really getting anywhere. Maybe there is, could be, another way to improve your search engine position.

Search engine rankings, that cherished high search engine position need not be as difficult as you think it is, let’s examine the facts.

Online marketing is really quite logical, shrouded as it is often in mystery for the uninitiated. If we dissolve the search engine mystery, perhaps we can more fully understand what makes Google rank some websites more highly, over and above everyone else’s web site position. Here you can learn about search engine ranking, general engine optimisation which might just yield better search results. Learn how the search engines work, how the search engines behave and you are halfway towards winning your search engine ranking, search engine marketing battle.

Search results come from any given Google keyword search, that is, what is placed in the Google search engine search box, by any particular computer user, seeking the information that they want to find. Search engine optimization SEO is the practice of researching how search engine technology and search engines rank a site more highly over and above all the other websites also seeking to rank well on Google or other major search engines. Optimization SEO accomplished correctly can yield very positive benefits for small businesses. Obviously larger companies have a more robust approach and a search engine optimisation SEO budget which would make many small business owners cringe by comparison. Is it possible then for the small business owner especially, to out rank on the major search engines, many larger and perhaps more well established websites, that have been around a lot longer, with higher page rank?

Many a marketing professional will like to tell you that they can do your optimization SEO at some hefty price, however, if you are limited on funds, this might not be an option that you can readily commit to. You want the best possible search engine ranking possible but you are limited on funds, can you compete for that highly cherished first page of Google? In short, is it reasonable to expect that the small business owner can in their own right become a search engine marketing expert?

The answer you will be happy to know is a resounding yes, although it may take a bit of a learning curve as you get to grips as a small business owner, with search engines and the way that search engines work. With a little time and practice, search engine optimization trial and error, there is no reason why you could not become a search engine marketing expert for your small business, in your own right.

Link building is just one example of engine optimization. It doesn’t need a subscription to a search engine academy to find out everything that you need to know to rank highly on search engines. Link building of course does pay dividends, again though, it can and does take a long time to rank well from link building alone, especially when you are just starting out, without the right search engine knowledge that will give you the SERPS position that you think you are entitled to. Research search terms online and it is easy to find out a great deal about optimisation SEO which is extremely effective online, to bring you many visitors to your web site, even more so from a high ranking position on Google one. Search marketing SEO given time and patience, and before long you too can get to grips with the search engines, ranking highly for any given keyword that you choose.

Obviously if you choose a very highly competitive single word keyword, it is unlikely that you will rank highly on the search engines, since the well established websites are going to beat you hands down at this exercise to start with. However, by going after long tailed keyword strings which still get plenty of searches per month, as search terms in the search engines, with low competition, discovering these niche keywords, could really pay for itself very well indeed sending you some very much needed organic, natural traffic from Google or other major search engines.

Search engines are actually there to help you, you can find out everything about ranking highly, getting your web site position as high as possible just by using them wisely and asking the right kind of ‘high ranking questions’ which will give you the best possible, high ranking position answers.

If you do not have the time to do this search engine research yourself for the best possible search engine position, employ a search engine marketing professional who can help you directly to push up your SERPS position. Weboptimiser search marketing company, who do search engine optimisation UK / search engine optimization USA is just one SEO company, marketing business, whose high search engine results business, you may want to look at for professional SEO. (We have no affiliation to Weboptimiser, I am just using their ‘themed’ keyword here for the purpose of this article ‘within an article’ exercise, since the Weboptimiser name popped up in the themed keyword search results)

High search engine placement, search engine ranking is achievable by anyone with an inclination to learn about search engines, SERPS, search engine ranking etc. If you want to optimise websites via article marketing or any other optimization SEO techniques, to advertise your web site business or attract more visitors online, looking for that information, that only you can provide, via a search engine search from those visitors - learning and putting into action a proactive search engine plan, a hands on SEO strategy will pay for itself over and over again.

As I said above please pardon me if the above ‘article within an article’ does not completely make sense, since I was only using up many of the related search engine marketing themed keywords that I had left over, that I did not use in the main thrust of the real article instructions above.

I hope you found some of this search engine marketing information helpful and the very best of luck to you, with all of your search engine marketing and search engine position, search engine rankings in the future.

Keyword emphasis with Italics and Bold are there for the purpose of pointing out the connected keyword themes related to Search Engine Marketing.
